The International Remote Viewing Association (IRVA) was organized March 18, 1999, in Alamogordo, New Mexico in conjunction with the first professional conference on Remote Viewing in Ruiduso, New Mexico.
IRVA's founding members were a mix of scientists and practitioners of remote viewing: Hal Puthoff, David Hathcock, John Alexander, Lyn Buchannan, Paul Smith, Skip Atwater, Angela Thompson-Smith, Marcello Truzzi, Russell Targ, & Stephan Schwartz
The International Remote Viewing Association is dedicated to providing accurate information about remote viewing. With so many sources of disinformation and inflated claims for the capabilities of remote viewing now abounding on the internet, IRVA is and will remain one of the most trustworthy sources available.
What IS Remote Viewing
Ingo Swann's website - Superpowers of the Human Bio-mind is a treasure trove of writings that no aspiring remote viewer should miss. Many of Ingo's most recently published books can be purchased through the International Remote Viewing Association.

Bob Durant was a Navy pilot, then spent 31 years in the airline industry as copilot, navigator, flight engineer and captain, mostly on international routes for Pan Am and then Delta. He did extensive training of other pilots, and served as Manager of Flight Engineering at Pan Am. Along with journalist Jim Schnabel, Bob was trained by Ingo Swann. In a recent article for the Bleeping Herald historian and practitioner Robert Durant recalls the early days of government remote viewing programs with Russell Targ, Hal Putoff and Ingo Swan. Interest in and study of psychology, consciousness, and psi began early with a study of dreamwork. "As a research chemist, my father instilled in all of his children an understanding of scientific methodology, along with an interest in psi - I was familiar with the Zener cards by age ten. Remote viewing, with its history of scientific development, held a natural attraction for me. My study of remote viewing progressed through the advanced level of training under the tutelage of Paul H. Smith. Paul has furthered that development by providing me with the opportunity to work with him as an assistant instructor during the past three years."

Articles & Media
Cleve Backster established the polygraphy program at the Central Intelligence Agency beginning in 1947. In the mid-1960s, he began experiments with plants and other biological entities to see if they exhibited electromagnetic responses to distant stimuli. Associated with this were a number of psychokinetic experiments conducted with a newly emerging parapsychology researcher named Ingo Swann. Cleve Backster played an important role in bringing Mr. Swann and Dr. Hal Puthoff together for the first time in what ultimately led to the quarter-century-long government remote viewing program. Cleve's recent book, Primary Perception can be found at Amazon.com.
